Who we are

Mittaphap International, founded in 2008 as Sae Lao Project, is a sustainable development initiative based in Vang Vieng, Laos, and Preah Dak, Cambodia. We are on a mission to empower rural communities both locally and nationally, by providing accessible, quality education and skills training. Our efforts foster sustainable livelihoods and promote innovative project management.

We are dedicated to building strong relationships between local leaders and global partners in order to drive long-term development. This development ensures self-reliance, economic independence, and a better future for all. Through our commitment to sustainability, empowerment, and integrity, we strive to create lasting positive change in the communities we serve.

What We Offer

Free Transportation: Pick-up, drop-off, and weekly market visits.
Comfortable Living: Volunteers stay in dormitories with access to a shared bathroom, hot showers, and free restaurant Wi-Fi. A guesthouse is also available.
Meals Provided: Enjoy 3 meals a day, with local food served at lunch, and the opportunity to cook and share dishes with international volunteers.
Discounted Drinks: Fresh coffee, chilled drinks.
Excursions: Take part in free weekly trips to local lagoons and hike to nearby viewpoints for sunrise or sunset.
Office Equipment: Access printers, laptops, projectors, and other necessary office equipment.
Transportation to Schools: We provide transportation to and from schools every school day (Monday through Thursday).

I want to connect with people, with different nationalities. Because English is a global language. I feel a bit smarter when I speak English. I feel like I can communicate with people all around the world. I feel like I can learn from them. I want to learn new cultures, meet new people, open my mind and heart, and get to see something new. I want to travel abroad for new experiences.

Joulee was granted entry onto the scholarship programme, where Mittaphap international funds each aspect of his university life. "If I wasn't part of the scholarship, I would probably have to become a farmer. This, for me, would be like hell. Farming is a very hard job, so I'm very happy to be on the scholarship."

I am from a big family in the countryside of Laos. There are 14 people in my family. They are all farmers. In June 2018, I graduated from Vang Vieng Highschool with very satisfying results. Before starting University, I was an intern at Equal Education For All (EEFA). EEFA was a registered Lao, non-profit, non-governmental organisation that provides Lao students with free English classes and workshops about health and environmental awareness. I worked as an English teacher for students and as a coordinator for international volunteers. Doing this work made me realise my wanting to contribute to the development of my Country.
